China is changing fast and cameras are becoming the banner
of a new lifestyle as much as bicycles are the symbol of the old ways.
Millions of chinese tourists, in many cases traveling from
remote regions, invade each and every temple, palace or fortress, side by side
with foreigners. Most of them carry some type of camera and, many among them,
look as if they are doing it for the first time.
Photographing China, both in 2006 and 2009, I was really
impressed by this massive afflux of new amateur photographers. Not only because
they are so many but also because they seem very committed as well.
As in many other aspects, this happy development in China
will have, despite western unawareness, a huge impact in the global world of
image.
